The Smith Center for the Performing Arts

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts is an iconic venue located in Downtown Las Vegas. The spacious five-acre arts facility is home to three theaters spread across two buildings and is part of the larger Symphony Park.

The center was named in honor of Fred and Mary Smith – the couple who were the center’s major benefactors.

The 2,050 person capacity center was opened back in 2012 and features a host of companies in the arts field, including both music and dance. It is also the home of the Nevada Ballet Theater and the Las Vegas Philharmonic.

The theater’s Art Deco design was inspired by that of Hoover Dam, and it is easy to spot the building’s white limestone exterior in addition to its intricate details throughout the facility. The lobby area boasts a winged sculpture, which Vegas residents will easily recognize being similar to the Winged Figures at the dam.

Guests should also look out for the 17-storey tower whose 47 bells make it an iconic part of The Smith Center. Proceed to the Reynolds Concert Hall or explore the two theaters – all of which were designed to be the center’s main venues.

The Myron’s Cabaret Jazz is a 240-seat venue that is best suited for cabaret, jazz, and other small & intimate events. The 3,700 square foot theater boasts a U-shaped second tier, whose tables have a maximum of four seats each. In the mezzanine area, the tables have two seats for each table.

On the other hand, the Troesh Studio Theater is a flexible 250-seat venue. The 3,000 square foot space is ideal for productions whose presentation is in the ‘black box’ style. This theater is also preferred for its general admission seating space.

A stellar show at the Smith Center would be incomplete without good food. That is why, before the show, patrons can enjoy snacks, beverages, and drinks at the Reynolds Hall bar. Guests also have the option of enjoying the outdoors on the balcony of the Carillon Salon.

The Smith Center offers free, guided walking tours to allow guests to explore the center. The tours are limited to twenty guests and last about an hour.
