McCarran International Airport

The McCarran International Airport is the main domestic and international airport in Las Vegas. It is located less than 10 minutes from the Strip and about 20 minutes from Downtown Las Vegas.

The airport was first opened to the public in 1948 and has since undergone expansion and renovations to reach its present state.

The airport boasts four runways and two passenger terminals; namely Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 (T1 and T3 respectively). Terminal 1 has four gates – A, B, C, and D- while Terminal 3 contains gate E. An Inter-Terminal Shuttle is available to transport passengers from T1 to T3 every 15 to 30 minutes.

Each Terminal has its own parking section, check-in area, and a host of dining and shopping options. It is important to know that there is no direct connection between the two terminals, so it is essential to know which terminal building handles your flight before the trip.

At the McCarran International Airport, passengers also have the option of using private transport or public transit to different parts of the city. Private transport options range from convenient taxis to luxurious limousines, rental cars, as well as rideshare options. The more affordable public transit options include public buses, inter-city shuttles, and hotel shuttles.

McCarran also offers excellent dining options – the perfect reason to enjoy a meal before setting foot in Las Vegas. Whether that’s a delicious Mexican meal at 360 Gourmet Burrito or a flavor-packed pizza at California Pizza Kitchen, passengers are spoilt for choice. Other delectable dining options include burgers at Carl’s Jr, delicious pastries at Cinnabon, and the best Vegas cheesesteak at the Great Steak and Potato Company.

A flight to or from McCarran would be incomplete without some retail therapy. Get fresh blooms to surprise your loved ones from 24 hour Flowers or shop for gadgets at Accessories 4 Wireless, as well as fashionable wear from Marshall Rousso. Don’t forget to indulge your sweet tooth at Ethel M Chocolates either.

McCarran International Airport is also home to the Aviation Museum, where enthusiasts can learn more about the aviation history in Las Vegas, as well as the airport’s role in the city’s growth.
