Whitney is a Las Vegas suburb that’s home to around 45,000 people. Located in Clark County and formerly known as East Las Vegas, residents flock here for its suburban feel.

It’s an upscale community where most people are homeowners, and for visitors, there is lots to explore in this idyllic area.

Its history dates back to 1910 when Stowell Whitney, a dairy farmer, bought a ranch here. His part of town was established as Whitney when the local government divided his ranch because they had to construct the Boulder Highway. Most of that land now belongs to Henderson city.

Since it was the height of the Great Depression, businesses in any industry weren’t thriving. Several issues in infrastructure through the decades delayed prosperity, and in the 2000s, Whitney finally began to see business booming. One of its notable establishments is the Sam Boyd Stadium, which served as the home to the UNLV Rebels football team.

Visitors who come to Whitney today have a multitude of suburban amenities to enjoy. From great shopping, dining, hotels, casinos, and nightlife, there’s a lot to enjoy both day and night here. It’s still rated as one of the best areas to live in Las Vegas and for a good reason!

So even if you aren’t looking to move, spend a few days to see the best Whitney has to offer.
