The museum was first opened in 1991, and its significant location on the Las Vegas Boulevard is a reminder of this culturally rich heritage zone in one of the world’s most famous cities. The museum’s opening was preceded by the need to collect pre-existing exhibits of wildlife and natural pre-historic items.

What started with exhibits loaned from local establishments and private citizens has since grown to include its own world-class collection, in addition to an immersive learning experience. From the desert landscapes to the ocean, and from Las Vegas to Egypt, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum takes visitors on an unforgettable adventure.

Visit the different exhibits and learn more about the natural environment. One of the highlights of a trip to the museum is the Treasures of Egypt. At this exhibit, you can explore some of Egypt’s most amazing treasures. Look out for the tomb of Tutankhamun.

This is also an opportunity to view the recreations of some of Egypt’s most renowned pieces. You may spot the Golden shrine, the throne, and the chariots. You will be fascinated to learn that these artifacts make up one of two sets authorized by The Ministry of Antiquities in Egypt! Do not pass the chance to learn about the process of mummification using the latest technology.

Explore the African landscape when you visit the Gary & Matthew Primm African Savanna exhibit. This gallery showcases the stunning beauty of the southern part of Africa, complete with predators, prey, and even a watering hole.

Other exhibits at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum include the African Rainforest, the Marine Life Gallery, as well as the Engelstad Family Prehistoric Life Gallery. Learn more about dinosaurs at the Dinosaur Mummy and marvel at groundbreaking research used to preserve the fossils.

The Las Vegas Natural History Museum is open daily between 9am and 4pm.
