Historic Fifth Street School

The Historic Fifth Street School, also known as the Las Vegas Grammar School, is an iconic landmark in Las Vegas and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, thanks to its historical significance in the city.

The school earned its name from its location on Fifth Street, now known as Las Vegas Boulevard.

The school was built way back in 1936 and sits on a 20-acre site. It has since undergone renovations to maintain the integrity of its structures. Following these renovations, the school’s main entrance was changed to Fourth Street and is presently located on 401 S Fourth St, Suite #145, in Las Vegas.

The original school was made up of multiple buildings linked together by the use of common roofs. This mission revival style was a testament to designs inspired during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. So unique is this design that it is the only building of its kind from that period.

Today, the school is home to the Nevada School of arts, the Las Vegas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, as well as the Office of Cultural Affairs for the City of Las Vegas. In addition to these facilities, many of the common areas at the school are available for hire for both private and public functions.

One of the most popular options is the multi-purpose auditorium. With a capacity of up to 400 people, the auditorium is an ideal venue for weddings and parties. There is also a gallery space available for art exhibitions and small meetings for a maximum of 200 people.

Outdoor lovers will enjoy the tranquility at the school’s open courtyard, which is perfect for fun outdoor activities. Other amenities include the expansive Centennial Plaza, as well as a conference room with a capacity of 30 people.

The Historic Fifth Street School is a melting pot of culture and rich heritage in the heart of Las Vegas. The renovated building not only houses local art establishments and architectural organizations, but it also gives a glimpse into the school’s rich history.
