Mandalay Bay Tram

The Mandalay Bay Tram is a popular mode of free transport on the Las Vegas Strip.

The 838-meter long system first opened in 1999 and was built to link each of the three casino hotels under the MGM Mirage Group.

The tram carries people from Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino at its southern end, passing through The Luxor, before stopping at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino. The tram consists of two independent tracks that run parallel to each other.

One of the tracks provides an express ride from the Excalibur to Mandalay Bay. The express tram is a convenient option as it takes just about five minutes from end to end. The other track serves the longer route, making stops at all four stations. This trip lasts about eight minutes in total, with the trains running every five minutes or so.

Both shuttle systems consist of five cars, each with a capacity of 32 passengers. In total, the tram can ferry a maximum of 160 passengers per ride. On arrival at either end, the tram goes back in the opposite direction to pick more passengers. The monorail also has a maximum speed of 22 miles per hour (36 km/h).

The Mandalay Bay Tram schedule operates as follows: From Sunday to Wednesday, the tram runs between 9am and 12:30am, and from Thursday to Saturday between 9am and 2:30am. This easy connection between three popular casino hotels allows guests to make the most of the experience.

For visitors staying off the Strip, a ride aboard the tram is a cost-effective way of sightseeing. Not only are the rides free of charge, but the tram also operates until late hours of the night, making it possible to party away in Vegas style.

To access the tram from Mandalay Bay, walk northeast to the corner of the casino, straight past the tattoo parlor, and the House of Blues Restaurant. At the Excalibur Hotel and Casino, take the short walk that leads over the pedestrian bridge to get to either New York-New York on the north or the Tropicana on the east.
