Inspiration Point

Inspiration Point is a popular viewpoint located within the Bryce Canyon National Park. This viewpoint provides visitors with an iconic view of Bryce Canyon for an unforgettable experience in the park.

From this point, visitors are treated to a panoramic view of the canyon, and it is easy to see how the lookout point got its name.

The views from Inspiration Point seem to stretch on endlessly as light strikes the multiple levels of hoodoos that dot the canyon. It is impossible not to marvel at the thousands of layers of red and white rock in almost perfect symmetry, with these unusual shapes attributed to the forces of nature. Many visitors are amazed to learn that the pinnacles are shaped by the wind and rain to create the wondrous landscape.

Inspiration Point provides stunning views of the park’s giant amphitheater, with three levels from which visitors get to enjoy different perspectives of the rock formations. Look out for the Silent City, which is easy to spot as it is close to Sunset Point. The views here stand out because the many rows of hoodoos create a wonderful contrast against the Boat Mesa.

A visit to Bryce Canyon Inspiration Point would be incomplete without appreciating the geologic diversity of the Claron Formation. This formation consists of the Lower Pink Member and the Upper White Member – both easily identifiable by their distinct colors.

The slopes of Inspiration Point have sparse vegetation, with scattered Bristlecone Pines whose lumpy trunks make for interesting photo subjects. This is also a great spot for bird and wildlife watching. As the sun sets behind the canyon, the dramatic pink and blue tones at dusk color the evening sky with alluring photo opportunities to end the day.

Visitors are advised that there are no trails that lead down into the canyon from the viewpoint’s cliffs. Additionally, the cliffs are extremely dangerous, and visitors are cautioned to use the well-marked trail.

To access Inspiration Point, drive for about a mile and a half from the national park’s Visitor Center from where the signage leads you to the viewpoint.
