Bryce Canyon National Park, Hiking Trail, Camping & Location Map, Utah

Bryce Canyon is packed with arches, mazes, and tall spires – a perfect combination for outdoor enthusiasts. The use of the word ‘canyon’ could be misleading to the avid geographer. That’s because, while the park is a narrow desert plateau, it has undergone much erosion over the years to give rise to unique rock basins on the sides, hence the use of the term ‘canyon.’

On arrival at the park, visitors drive on a paved road that leads to stunning sights, including Yovimpa Point, Inspiration Point, and the awe-inspiring Bryce Amphitheatre. The latter is one of the highlights at the park, thanks to its beautiful rock towers that are commonly referred to as ‘hoodoos.’

For those who love a good work out, nothing compares to the hiking trails that dot the park. Two of the most popular trails include the ‘Under the Rim Trail,’ as well as the Fairyland Loop. It is impossible not to appreciate the splendid sites that the trails take you through along the way. Look out for the rock pillars that stretch on for miles on end.

For hikers discovering Bryce Canyon National Park’s wondrous gems, the abundance of wildlife is a sure delight. Keep your eyes peeled for the pronghorn antelope, and if you are lucky, you even might spot a mountain lion. Rattlesnakes and lizards are also found in the park. Bird lovers will also be excited to spot the golden and bald eagles. Visit the park during summer and enjoy the bloom of the gorgeous flowers.

Take some time to visit the historic Bryce Canyon Lodge for excellent accommodation within the park. Get handy information at the Visitor Centre before dropping by at the popular Ruby’s Inn for a meal and to grab a souvenir.
