Kaibab Forest is a tranquil escape from the city’s bustle. Its higher elevations feature thick forests of the Ponderosa Pine while its lower elevations are home to large collections of junipers. During a visit to the forest, you might catch glimpses of some of the local wildlife. Look out for the coyotes that roam the plains, the elks, mules, and occasionally, the black bears.
There are many fun activities to enjoy in the forest, with Marble Viewpoint one of the top sights at Kaibab. This viewpoint makes the perfect camping spot or picnic location, with views from this lookout stretching from the canyon’s eastern ends to the flat island-like land beyond.
Take your sightseeing adventure up a notch and explore the Grandview Lookout Tower. Originally built as a fire tower, the lookout tower offers breathtaking views of the canyon. The tower is easily accessible using the Grand Canyon National Park’s Desert View Drive.
Stop by at the Grand Canyon Deer Farm, which is a lovely zoo located in the park’s William’s District. Animal lovers get to pet and feed the deer in the farm. There is a tiny enclosure that houses goats, as well as the different exhibits that house exotic animals such as marmosets.
